ZIMRA in its continuous efforts to lend a hand to the community through social responsibility initiatives recently visited Jairos Jiri home in Southerton and made a heartfelt donation of 150 blankets. The inmates at the home are now assured of sound sleep with a bit of comfort and warmth during this chilly winter season, after receiving a gift of blankets from the proceeds of last year’s ZIMRA Charity Ball.

Mr Lloyd Karonga ZIMRA’s Greater Harare Accountant handed over a bale of blankets to Mrs Mavindidze the Centre Manager of the Jairos Jiri home at an emotional ceremony. The donation was accepted with thankful smiles of delight from the children who went on to treat their generous guest with melodious singing.  Mrs Chiremberi, a dedicated physiotherapist at the home gave a vote of thanks followed by a joy filled word of prayer from one of the children.

Jairos Jiri is one of the many homes that have been permanently adopted by ZIMRA in an effort to offer much needed assistance to these less fortunate members within the society .The Authority is closely tied to the operations of charitable institutions such as, Ivodale Celebrated Children’s home and Bekezela Chilidren’s Home among other. The Authority is very passionate with this endeavour; donations are made regularly with basics like groceries and clothing being put at the fore front.

Though it may feel the efforts already put are never enough, ZIMRA will continue and strive to make sure there is  always  a hot plate, a warm bed and a smile on these children’s’ faces.
