The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority joined the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality, the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, other  corporate bodies and interested stakeholders in launching the tourism month on September 1, 2010 by cleaning the streets and bus termini of Harare..

This year, the theme of the World Tourism Day which will be commemorated towards the end of this month is “Tourism and bio diversity” and focuses on the sync between tourism and different natural forms of ecosystems. The Minister of Tourism and Hospitality, Honourable Walter Muzembi, who was the guest of honour at the ceremony, remarked that the clean up campaign should not only be done in the streets. Children in schools are also part and parcel of the community who should be taught the importance of staying in a clean environment. The importance of tourism was emphasised and the Minister highlighted that the country lost a herd of elephants through veld fires a few days ago and the tourism industry lost to a large extent.

ZIMRA plays a part in the promotion of tourism through facilitating the movement of human and vehicular traffic through border posts and airports and also administers revenue laws meant to catalyse the development of tourism.
