The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) is in the process of introducing a single window system at border posts, said ZIMRA Commissioner General Ms Faith Mazani while speaking at the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Refresh Conference on 24 February 2018. The conference was held at Touch of Grace conference in Highlands Harare.

Ms Mazani stressed that there is need to streamline border operations of several stakeholders to be done in only one single window. She pointed out that the current situation where almost each stakeholder at the borders has to invest in its own infrastructure is retrogressive.

“We are going to work on the proliferation of our stakeholders based at the border post, we have the agricultural stakeholders, the army, the police, health sector and the environmental agency (EMA). There are so many of us at the border post and as a result the facilities that we provide are limited,” alluded Ms Mazani.

The Commissioner General also thanked church organisations in providing platforms of interaction in sharing business ideas and stressed that the church plays a pivotal role in fostering tax compliance, drawing a comparison between tax and tithe.

Other guest speakers at the conference included the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor, Dr John Mangudya, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Mrs Abigail Shonhiwa, president of CZI, Mr Sifelani Jabangwe and ZNCC president Dr Divine Dhlukula.
