The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority, (ZIMRA) has put in place systems to allow registered operators to report faulty devises to the Authority in the event that a fiscal device develops a fault. The below points provide a guide to reporting faulty devices.

 

  1. REPORTING OF FAULTY DEVICES

Legal basis upon which Fiscalised Registered Operators Should Report Faulty Devices

 

In terms of Statutory Instrument 162 of 2017, registered operators are to notify

ZIMRA once the following has occurred:

  • A technical fault on a device and /or its accessories.
  • Theft of the device.
  • Any other reason which renders use of the fiscal device impossible.

 

  1. INFORMATION REQUIRED TO BE SUBMITTED TO ZIMRA WHEN REPORTING A FAULTY DEVICE?

The following information is required when reporting a faulty device:

  • Registration number –this is a number issued by ZIMRA upon completion of the registration process of a fiscal device.
  • Serial number for each fiscal device-this number is usually located underneath the device.
  • Nature of problem-which can be any as stated above.
  • Approved supplier engaged –this is the supplier of the fiscal device.

Upon supplying the above information an Error /Fault number is issued to client. This number should be acquitted once the problem is resolved by notifying the ZIMRA office where the initial report was made.

  1. CONSEQUENCES FOR NOT REPORTING DEVICE FAULTS.

Failure to report attracts a civil penalty of $25 per device per day for which the taxpayer remains in default up to a maximum of 181 days is chargeable in terms of S.I 153 of 2011.
