The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA and the Mozambique Revenue Authority, through Alfandegas – its Customs administration wing - held a belated function to commemorate International Customs Day in style in Manica on January 29, 2011.

The ceremony started with a soccer match at the Stadio de Manica in Manica Mozambique between Eastern Lions and Alfandegas where the visitors, Eastern Lions suffered a 6-5 defeat. The match, which was part of the celebrations to mark International Customs Day, attracted highly respected and inspiring personnel from Mozambique like Honourable Senator Cde Mandi Chimene as well as senior managers from the Mozambique Revenue Authority.

After the match, it was all smiles for the ZIMRA delegation as well as to Alfandegas as the hosts led them to Complexio Residencial de Machipanda for a sumptuous banquet.

Mr Bekezela Majokojoko, ZIMRA Head Ports for Region 3, also had a chance to thank Alfandegas for making that joint function a success. The support from ZIMRA clearly showed that the Authority is in cordial relations with other revenue authorities region wide.

Members of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) commemorate International Customs Day on January 26 every year to mark the inaugural session of the Customs Cooperation Council (CCC) that was held in Brussels, Belgium in 1953.
