Question 1:

In looking at the Rev 1 form which parts of this form would need to be filled in (this form being much longer and complex than the Rev 2).

Answer

All clients registering with ZIMRA for the first time should complete all the relevant fields on the Rev 1 form. On the other hand, the Rev 2 form should only be completed by a client who is already registered with ZIMRA but has details that need to be changed, updated or added on their account with ZIMRA.

Question 2

Are supporting documents necessary?  Which documents need to be attached?

Answer

Indeed, the supporting documents are necessary. These documents enable the authority to verify the authenticity of the information given by the client on the forms.

The Rev 1 and Rev 2 forms clearly state the attachments that need to be submitted. The attachments will depend on the nature of the taxpayer, the revenue head being registered e.t.c.

Question 3

Do we first submit the Rev 1 getting a Business Partner Number and then submit the Rev 2 or can both forms be submitted at once?

Answer

The Rev 1 is only submitted at the point of initial registration with ZIMRA. It is after the submission of the Rev 1 that a client is allocated with a Business Partner Number.

If there are any changes to details previously submitted by the client, then the client should complete and submit a Rev 2 in order to effect changes on his account. The Rev 2 form is also completed  where a client is applying for registration of an additional revenue head.

Question 4

Finally we have submitted over 150 Rev 2 forms without Rev 1 forms and these have been stamped and accepted by Zimra, should we now resubmit copies of said Rev 2’s attached to a Rev 1?

Answer

If the 150 Rev 2 forms were submitted for clients who were already registered with ZIMRA, then, it was correct for them to be submitted.

However, if the forms were submitted for new registrations, then, Rev 1 forms should be completed and submitted to ZIMRA. It is also important that the client must, at the point of submission of the correct forms, notify ZIMRA of the previous submissions in order to avoid duplicate registrations.

Question 4
