The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) joined other government institutions, regional anti-corruption agencies and law enforcement bodies in commemorating the 2026 Africa Anti-Corruption Day held in Victoria Falls, Matabeleland North Province, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to promoting integrity in public service.
Held under the theme, "Scaling Up the Promotion of Integrity and Anti-Corruption Actions Across Africa," the commemorations brought together Zimbabwe, Botswana and Zambia in a united call to strengthen cross-border cooperation in combating corruption and safeguarding public resources for sustainable development.
ZIMRA participated alongside key institutions including the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS), the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), and other government agencies.
The Authority took part in the commemorative march through Victoria Falls, where participants raised public awareness on the importance of fighting corruption and cultivating a culture of integrity across all sectors of society.
The joint commemorations underscored the growing regional resolve to confront corruption through stronger partnerships and coordinated action under regional and continental anti-corruption frameworks.
Minister of State for Matabeleland North Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Richard Moyo who was the guest of honor attended the event alongside, Botswana's Minister for State President, Defence and Security, Mr Moeti Mohwasa, senior officials from the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission and their counterparts from Zambia, reflecting the increasing collaboration among neighbouring countries in the fight against corruption.
Addressing delegates, Mr Mohwasa said, “The success of Africa's anti-corruption efforts would ultimately depend on the strength of public institutions and the confidence citizens place in them”.
The commemorations come at a time when ZIMRA continues to strengthen its institutional integrity framework and intensify measures aimed at preventing, detecting and combating corruption. ZIMRA remains committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in revenue administration while fostering a transparent and accountable organisational culture.
Through continuous integrity awareness programmes, strengthened internal controls and collaboration with national and regional stakeholders, ZIMRA is reinforcing its zero-tolerance stance against corruption as it strives to deliver efficient, fair and trusted tax and customs administration services.
The Authority's participation in the Africa Anti-Corruption Day commemorations reflects its recognition that combating corruption is a shared responsibility requiring collective action from governments, institutions, businesses and citizens alike.
By promoting integrity in all its operations, ZIMRA continues to contribute towards building public trust, protecting national revenue and supporting Zimbabwe's broader socio-economic development agenda.
